3 Easy DIY Home Decor Projects You Can Do This Weekend
Every once in awhile, it’s nice to change things up when it comes to your home decor. Whether you’ve been watching lots of HGTV or you’re just getting tired of looking at that same shower curtain you’ve had since your first apartment after college, if you’re feeling inspired to make some adjustments, we say go for it!
Unfortunately, most of us don’t have the time or budget to completely overhaul rooms or entire home decor styles on a whim.
That’s where small, easy, DIY home decor projects come in! If you have limited time and budget, but want to make a big impact, these small DIY ideas are a great place to start.
Do-It-Yourself Home Decor Projects You Can Complete This Weekend
Want to freshen things up a bit when it comes to your home decor? Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Make Your Own Terrarium Garden
These gardens are all the rage these days – and they’re super cheap and easy to make!
Head to your local craft store and pick up a couple of glass containers, or check the recycling bin to see if you can repurpose any glass containers you already have on hand.
Next, swing by the local garden center and head to the succulent section. You’ll find lots of small, low-maintenance plants to choose from. Ask a store employee if you need recommendations. While you’re there, pick up some potting soil and gravel.
Back at home, start assembling your terrariums. Don’t be afraid to experiment a bit and assemble something really funky. This is a great project for kids to help with as well!
Once your terrariums are assembled, find them a home! They typically look great in bathrooms, on dining room tables, and on kitchen countertops.
Make Your Own Coasters
Coasters are purpose-filled decorations that you can never have enough of! They’re also an easy DIY craft idea.
Want to update your coaster collection? All you need to do is swing by your local hardware store and pick up some 4 x 4 inch ceramic tiles. The number of coasters you’d like to make is the number of tiles you’ll need.
Next, stop at the craft store for some Mod Podge or craft glue, some felt, and some sealant.
Back at home, cut some 4 x 4 inch squares out of scrapbook paper, maps, old comics, pages from your favorite books, photos, or other crafty materials you have lying around.
Finally, you’re ready to start assembling your coasters. Line the bottom of the coasters with felt first. Next, use Mod Podge to affix the 4 x 4 inch paper squares to the top of the coasters. Do a few coats of Mod Podge, letting the coasters dry completely between coats. Once they are completely dry, spray them with sealant to finish up the project.

Make Your Own Doormat
Spice up your entryway with a new and exciting doormat you made yourself!
Purchase a plain doormat from your local home improvement store. Then personalize it and make it your own! All you’ll need is some spray paint, stencils, and some creativity!
To get started, print out the message you’d like your doormat to display in a font you like. Next, cut out the letters to create your own unique stencil.
Pin the stencil to the doormat carefully. After you’re sure the stencil is securely fastened, dab paint over the stencil to transfer the letters onto the mat. Carefully remove the stencil and let the mat dry.
